Just branching out on my family history search

I found a suggestion today about using a blog to assist me in finding more information about my ancestors through distant cousins. I'm currently using Ancestry.com, but there are a great many other services available. This blog is my attempt to locate relatives who may use other services or may not have even begun their ancestry search. Everyone knows the quickest way to find things nowadays is through a Google search, so my hope is that this blog will help stimulate some conversations with potential cousins.

I decided to start with my grandfathers to preserve the privacy of living relatives. My paternal grandfather's name was Fisk Edward Maxwell. He was born in Texas but also lived in Oklahoma. He was born in 1899 and died in 1948. He was married to Anne Elizabeth Judd who was born in 1896 and died in 1981. I'm having a difficult time with my Judd ancestors as my grandmother's father died before her birth in 1896 and her mother died in childbirth.

My grandmother told everyone that her father's name was Michael Judd and her mother's name was Minnie Collins and I've verified that data is listed on her Social Security Application. FamilySearch.org has 4 records of their marriage as occurring on 17 February 1895 in Falls County, Texas. Her father is listed as M. P. Judd, born in 1874; while her mother is listed as Minnie Collins, born in 1877. I couldn't find any definitive records for either parent through Ancestry.org.

It's getting late, so I'll try to add more information tomorrow.

Thanks for any information anyone can provide in my search!
